Default Trackday Accident

This is from another forum.

It is an accident that happened at knockhill recently and highlights the need for a rollcage and the need to be alert at all times.

What the fuck was that Civic driver doing?
It all seemed to go horribly wrong really quickly, shame.

To be honest, as we know the civic driver shouldnt have done that. But fuck sake come on you could see him plain as day being slow and dangerous! Anyone with a bit of common would've been straight on the brakes rather than carrying the speed and making a banzai manouver both of them made basic errors imo (says the chump who drove into the pit wall)

I've watched it a few times, but is there actually any damage to the Civic at all?

The civic was turbo'd and was as quick as the evo's in a straight line but they were quicker through the bends, then from what i have read he suffered some sort of engine problem on the lead up to the chicane.

He knew the evo's were behind him but it looks like he was surprised by the cossie coming pass at the start of the chicane and then again by the 205.

Just shows how quickly it can all go wrong.

I can't believe how little damage the civic looked to get? ... but I think that could have been avoided.

I've watched it a few times now and i think the escort was fairly 'lucky' to have not done much the same... seems a rather dangerous place to try to overtake anyway?

I haven't been to the circuit but just what i see from the video?

Hmm..my opinion...

Another avoidable track-day incident, sadly becoming more common recently.

Now, having watched the footage, the Civic on the approach the 'John R Weir' (correct me if I'm wrong but i think thats the corner) is pulled over to the inside on the right tight because he wasn't going to make the corner because of the speed the evo's were carrying behind him, and he runs over to the right on the approach to the corner long before committing to any line.

Letting cars pass on a chicane is pretty stupid on a trackday but it happens all the time, luckily the red Cosworth just got through, but he shouldn't have done either, he should of sat back, but clearly with all that unfolding what did the driver of the 205 think, yes ill squeeze through there at this speed, a really tight left/right chicane up a hill?

On the right hand side, up a hill and sticking to the right, the civic was bound to be much slower.

Poorly judged driving sadly I think by the 205 driver im sorry to say.

The driver of the 205 admits to not seeing the civic until the last minute as he was transfixed on the back of the escort.

Is it a case of the line becoming blurred between people thinking they're racing and not driving a trackday.

I had a close call last year at fordfair when some idiot tried to dive up the inside of me as i turned in for a bend. I had to drive off the track to avoid being taken out as the fool couldn't slow down enough for the bend.
